fox Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 That is to say...hey @Songmistress...? (I can't "@" you in a title. More's the pity.) This quote, from your love story? Quote As I say, most people have a fairytale life - it's just that it isn't the Disney-fied, sanitised version; it's more the Brothers Grimm sort. Magic and romance and chivalry, it's all there. But, so is the great darkness, the evil. And, in real fairytales, as in faery itself, the characters do not get to come out of their stories unscathed. There are no scar-free tales. This made my day better. So fucking true. I just wanted to say thank you for thinking and writing it. It's actually really important. I mean it can be such shit to live through, but it's still important. So. Thank you. (Also, OBVIOUSLY, for the love story. It's one of my favourites, too. I always feel so honoured and privileged to have watched it play out. ) 1 4 Quote
hirondelle Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Agree 100% @fox. Disney have done us a great deservice by sanitising our fairy tales... or should I say late Disney, early Disney understood the importance of darkness and light. I also enjoyed the Grimm reference @Songmistress, and appreciated it vicerally. 1 1 Quote
Tika Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I agree too. There is no love without pain, no light without dark. Everything has it's balance and I think sometimes we all want to share the good and gloss over the bad. 2 Quote
Kenai Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 The darkness makes the light shine all that much brighter. : ) 1 1 Quote
