Timberwolf
What file format do you use for taking pictures with a DSLR?
Lightningfall
Unless I have to have the jpeg really fast, I work in RAW. It gives you a lot more freedom to manipulate the photo.
Timberwolf
I totally agree with this @Lightningfall. I just need to learn how to be more efficient with my work when working with RAW files.
Lightningfall
True of us all, I think, Wolf. True of us all.
Timberwolf
I'll take like 300+ pictures, and started editing them, and think "Fuck! This is a lot of pictures." I need to remember my presets in Lightroom.
Lightningfall
The problem I always have is that most of my photos need different edits, so the presets don't usually work for them.
Timberwolf
Yeah. that's how I felt, but I like the control I have over my photos when I use RAW. I feel very restrained when I use JPEG. I did switch to JPEG because of lack of time, but after talking to another photographer here, I want to switch back to RAW.
Lightningfall
The nice thing is that even if you take the photos in RAW, it doesn't actually take all that long to convert them to a JPEG. Then, as long as you saved the original, you've got most of the best of both worlds. It does add a couple of steps, but I think that it is worth it, personally. Lightningfall
Seriously, making time?! That would be amazing! Now, if you could make it so that we didn't age through that extra time, that would be … well, game changing.
