  1. Oh no, like... bruised?
  2. Reviewed quickly, comments added. Good assignment. Henson-Writing Assignment 1 - TD.docx
  3. Welcome home Reddragon! Thank you for coming back *hugs*
  4. Sorry you feel this bad. I had a bad turn a few years ago where I was replaying a negative loop. It created quite bad insomnia and in the end I had to go to the docs for some pharmaceutical help. He gave me 10 days worth of Xanax which I managed to make last a month haha. Anyway forget what your kids think, it is easy knowing everything when you are young. Focus on putting yourself first for a while @Tika. Between your job, kids and lover I feel you might be in danger of giving yourself away. Love ya lady... thank you for dreaming of me
  5. Weekly check in: 174.6 today despite having eaten All The Wings last night! So that is another 2lbs down. Feeling good! The challenge this week is to keep up the discipline despite being on leave. Not going on holiday anywhere but just being at home with free time will be a big temptation for me. I am going to work very hard to avoid carbs (because that is how things get ugly fast) and try and do some exercise everyday.... plus get my steps! Wish me luck.
  6. You look amazing @Kenai
  7. *huggles @PyroCJ* Yay, you found us at last!!! Thanks you for coming home sweetie!!
  8. There is also this... ladies, would you?
  9. Lol that girl earned 25k from advertising on that video alone precisely because she doesn't have a microphone cover. Also she is cute.
  10. Sounds like you are doing brilliantly @Phoenix. Yeah don't try and rush this process because you have to continually monitor yourself for complacency. One habit has to be either extremely rewarding or firmly grounded before you can split your attention and pick up another. That said the benefits of meditation are like secrets superpowers so don't write it off completely. If now isn't the right time do pencil it in for the future.
  11. It was the other thing that happened that made me happy lol

    ASMR

ASMR. / Triggers Does anyone use audio ASMR triggers? I have tried a few but they are mostly weird and vaguely sexual.... wait is it supposed to be sexual? Am I missing the point? I find it interesting but I don't really like it so I feel like I am missing something. I would love to hear other people's experience with it. If you don't know what it is... here is an example:

    So tired

My problem is remembering it is a tool in my toolbox as it were. I am great when I do it, I just forget I can. If you struggle to keep your mind still you might find a guided meditation helpful. Or some white noise / tranquil sounds. The headspace app has a free 10 intro course https://www.headspace.com/headspace-meditation-app Calm is also a good app and also they have meditations on their website https://www.calm.com/meditate I have one more on my phone but it is currently charging - I will post it later.
  14. I am making this thread for @Aliea but other people might appreciate it to. It kind of reads like an RP - but it definitely belongs in the MH area, because it is a place to 'relax and be' without interaction. You can use the pods to sleep, rest, read etc but there is to be no talking in this thread so you can't disturb the sleepers. However if someone comes in here feeling pain, and expressing emotions you may very discretely offer support. Please don't talk to them - you will have to be creative which is why it is like an RP. Things you can do are sit near the pod, lean against it, touch the pod lightly to show support, Do not feel you need to respond though... people come here with the desire to be quiet and relax. You can just read their post and hit the like / love button. Sleepers, try and visualise an environment like the one in the picture. There are variations,,, maybe you want gently moving stars, or complete darkness, maybe you would like soft music, the sound of the sea or a waterfall, maybe a gentle rain. Or maybe you prefer silence. Maybe you would like your pod to rock as if it is a cradle or floating on an ocean with a soft breeze... or maybe you want stillness. It is all dependent on your mood. I am sure you will come up with other things to soothe your spirit. What is important regardless of the variations you choose is that while you are in the pod you feel wrapped in Northlands love. Feel free to post your feelings while you are in the pod and don't be afraid to make consecutive posts, but please be okay with low key or zero responses. We love you very much and this is a place to be still and self soothe. Final note. No jerking off in my pods okay? ;-)
  15. Ok let me make you one... if it appeals to you other people might enjoy it too.

    So tired

I hope the schedule change helps Tika, I'm wondering if you have tried mindfulness meditation. It doesn't help actual exhaustion... but I think it helps with that spiralling sense of shit getting out of control. I mean it has a seriously - life changing impact. It is the strongest drug I know... and I love me some xanax, but meditation is better.

    Wrong time

Good post. I have the hardest time loving myself / accepting myself too. I don't even have the baby making excuse for being a mess. Also - I like you in colour, but yes you do have an old-timey beauty. Although I think I see you as that voluptuous wild west hooker type (I don't mean that offensively it is one of my favourite looks, lmao). But yeah, silk lace ribbons and liquor would suit you fine.
  18. Glad you popped in @Aliea as I was starting to worry and didn't want to tag you and be too clingy. I feel like you need the equivalent of a virtual sleep pod at the Northlands. So you can be here to rest and get some love without interacting.
  19. I understand your frustration, because I have a similar problem but maybe a little more control over it (possibly because I am not clinically depressed?). I feel like I completely understand it now. I read The Power of Habit paid the subscription to be part of Leo Babauta's Sea Change programme for 4 months (I only needed this long to learn the process so then I quit because I could direct it to follow my own agenda rather than follow his). Now although I sometimes screw up trying to create or maintain a habit I know where I went wrong and why. Basically you just have to own it (back to Jocko haha). https://seachange.zenhabits.net/ https://www.amazon.com/Power-Habit-What-Life-Business/dp/081298160X One thing I think you have to be careful of is trying to control too much. Prioritise according to what will have the biggest payoff (in quality) in your life.
  20. This is a sensitive and touchy subject, but one I have heard more than one Northlander comment on on FB at least. We live in a society which despite striving towards gender equality still values aging men far more than aging women. It is easier more men to get heavier, greyer and still be considered attractive than a woman. If an older woman is still considered attractive it is pretty certain she will be one of the lucky few blessed with good genes, or who puts time and money into retaining youthful looks. I guess most Northlanders are still too young to be concerned with this issue, but for those of us who are this article is worth a read - one quote leaps out for me: Working to Disarm Women’s Anti-Aging Demon
  21. *pins @Spyder in the snow and nuzzles him*
  22. I am going to say I respectfully but vehemently disagree with you and leave it there, because years of painful experience have taught me there isn't any easy end to this conversation.
  23. The AMA is great. THIS is why I love Jocko.
